SAAW
- "Self propelled anti-air weapon. Armed with short-range radar guided missiles and twin anti-air cannons."
- ― Mission Editor Description
The SAAW (Self-propelled Anti-Air Weapon) is a ground vehicle designed for short-range air defense.
It consists of an Anti-Air system mounted on an MBT2-E Tank chassis which is equipped with a short-range SA radar, eight short-range radar-guided Surface-to-Air missiles and two anti-air cannons.
The SAAW will begin to engage air targets within a distance of 8km (4.3nmi) with its missiles and switch to its cannons at 800m (0.4nmi).
The missiles on the SAAW use semi-active radar guidance, requiring the vehicle to track the missile all the way to the target. Despite these limitations, the missile fired by the SAAW has enough fuel to burn through the entire flight, making it very difficult for evading aircraft to G-Pull out of the missile's range.
The SAAW is identifiable on the radar warning receiver as SA.
