When deploying weapons, each one has a specific callout that is announced by a pilot to their wingmen, communicating their current actions and mitigating the risk of confusion with RWR warnings or preventing multiple unnecessary hits on single targets that may already be destroyed.

All the relevant callouts used in VTOL VR are listed below.

Relevant Callouts

  • "Guns, guns, guns!" - Firing the on-board Cannons on an aircraft.
  • "Fox 1!" - Firing a semi-active radar-guided Air-to-Air missile. (AIM-7)
  • "Fox 2!" - Firing a heat-seeking Air-to-Air missile. (AIM-9, AIRS-T, etc.)
  • "Fox 3!" - Firing an active radar-guided Air-to-Air missile. (AIM-120C, AIM-54)
  • "Rifle!" - Firing an Air-to-Ground missile. (AGM-65, AGM-114, etc.)
  • "Pickle!" - Dropping an unguided or guided bomb. (Mk. 82, GBU-38, GBU-12 etc.)
  • "Magnum!" - Firing an Anti-Radiation missile. (AGM-88, AGM-126, AGM-188)
  • "Bruiser!" - Firing an Anti-Ship missile. (AGM-89)
  • "Greyhound!" - Firing a land attack cruise missile. (AGM-161)
  • "Trojan!" - Firing an air-launched decoy missile. (ADM-160J MALD)
