User blog:AtrociousAmbition/Announcing Operation Eternal Spirit! June 1st To August 1st!

From VTOL VR Wiki
Jump to navigation Jump to search

The VTOL VR Wiki is hosting Operation Eternal Spirit, a historical photography project for VTOL VR. Operation Eternal Spirit involves taking pictures and videos of all the different aspects of VTOL VR's gameplay to act as a symbol of the times (and good material for the Wiki itself). VTOL VR has undergone significant development in its four years* of development, and the depth to this game is incredible for what it offers. What better way to celebrate VTOL VR than by immortalizing its content and gameplay experiences through photo and video!

During the Operation, players are encouraged to either take photos/videos of different facets of VTOL VR's gameplay or upload existing photos and videos you've taken to either the dedicated channel within the Wiki's Discord server, or directly to the Wiki itself. Wanna showcase your favorite unit's combat capabilities? Wanna show us what you look like when pulling 8 Gs to evade that incoming SAM? Go for it! Your media might even be featured around the Wiki in the future! Submitters can also elect for their content to be published anonymously if desired.

Submissions will be accepted from June 1st, 2022 to August 1st, 2022. On August 1st, I will announce my top 3 favorite images and videos from Operation Eternal Spirit for everyone to see! Whether you're in it for the Wiki or you're just in it for the glory, all contributions are greatly appreciated! Any questions about this event may be asked in either the comments below or in the VTOL VR Wiki's Discord server.

Event rules and other technicalities are listed below. Please familiarize yourself with them before uploading files for the event.

NOTE: if you are uploading an image or video directly to the Wiki for Operation Eternal Spirit, follow these instructions for proper categorization and sorting:

  1. Upload your media, making sure to give it a specific name and selecting the appropriate Licensing option.
  2. Click the Edit button at the upper-right corner of the page.
  3. Cite yourself as the creator of said media if applicable.
  4. At the end of the document, add the line [[Category:Operation_Eternal_Spirit]] to apply the relevant categorization to it.

Rules

  1. All uploaded media must be your own content or open-licensed content with credit. Plagiarism is unacceptable.*
  2. All pictures posted must pertain to VTOL VR gameplay or activity within its editors.**
  3. Any files uploaded should be in one of Fandom's approved image/video file formats. Preferred file formats are .png, .jpg, and .gif.**
  4. Do not post pictures containing modded content. Using mods to take pictures of vanilla content from different angles or improve image quality is acceptable.**
  5. The subject of your picture should be clearly visible and fall into one of the aforementioned categories.**
  6. Minor photo editing for quality improvement is acceptable, but don't go overboard with the applied effects.**

Wiki staff handling Operation Eternal Spirit reserve the right to reject any entry for any reason without warning, including--but not limited to--the reasons listed within the rules above.

*Entries in violation of these rules will result in their creators being disqualified from the event. Further entries from offenders will not be accepted and all their submissions will be blacklisted from Wiki usage qualification. Certain entries may still qualify for honorable mention at the event's conclusion even if blacklisted.
**Entries in violation of these rules alone will be blacklisted from Wiki usage, but users can still submit other entries as desired, and retain implicit potential for honorable mention.

Other Ideas

  • Does a certain image or other piece of media on the Wiki look unsightly? Does that one image stick out in the sky like an AWACS with its belly up? You can help with that! Submitters are welcome to make submissions with the intention of replacing a specific image or two on the Wiki.
  • The Wiki has been needing to replace its Early Access images for a while now. This is mainly to maintain image quality and keep from confusing users with outdated gameplay footage. If you could help replace these old images, it would be much appreciated!
